I offered them $550 USD and shipping was $56 USD.

PROS
Affordable
Robust
Supports up to 15lbs
CAT5 cable is cheap to replace
Takes Sony Batteries

CONS
Only has 1/4-20 threads for under mount
not smooth on manual use
Top speed is not that fast.
Not weatherproof
No mounting option for remote.

BOTTOMLINE
If you have the money, get the Kessler one.  If you’re only going to use this for timelapse or MOS, then it might be ok.  I’ve been spoiled by using the Kessler one, and this one really just doesn’t compare.  With all that said, this is still a great option.

CAT5 makes me wonder what kind of interesting replacement controllers one might build…
Though the motor is probably still noisy regardless.

It sounds to me like the gear is skipping on the ribbon when you reach the end, so you’d end up with either a gear with no teeth, or ribbon with an empty section (neither of which is good, of course). Dunno why they don’t have auto-stop; it’d be a simple feedback loop.
